Duties are as follows:



  • Under general direction Materials Planner performs purchasing tasks associated with Supplier Production scheduling, order placement, expediting, and problem resolution

  • Under the direction of Director of Purchasing, Planner manages purchasing strategy in support of business goals and objectives

  • Analyzes demand signal generated by Production Scheduler, MRP, and other raw material inventory management systems and plans Supplier orders to support inventory and production goals

  • Works closely with Production planning and Receiving Staff to ensure on-time delivery of raw material and supplies

  • Reviews Oracle reports to determine when new purchase orders should be placed for required raw materials and supplies

  • Conducts root cause analysis for raw material or supply shortages and reports to Customer Service and Management team

  • Serves as an active participant in LSS programs that promote continuous improvement

  • Provides cost and operations analysis to highlight opportunity areas and to explain actual performance

  • Works with Area Production Managers to minimize stock-out situations and develop contingency plans

  • Coordinates daily Production schedules through the area supervisors and appropriate Area Production Managers

  • Participates in and contributes to the accurate completion of Physical inventories as required and per appropriate outside auditor requirements

  • Continually addresses inventory turns and levels, keeping the balance of the organization informed of trends, shifts, and targets

  • Maintains appropriate Kanban levels in conjunction with division purchasing and forecasting requirements

  • Maintains MRP accuracy levels and pull sheet documentation with all appropriate suppliers

  • Ensures daily planner activities are completed in a timely fashion to support the ongoing business activities

Required Qualifications :

Successful candidates must meet the following requirements:



  • Associates degree required (Management, Industrial Technology, Engineering; Degree must be from an accredited institution)

  • 1-3 years of Materials Planning experience with exposure to multi-level BOM structures

  • Experience with a broad array of material commodities and product cycles

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Experience with MRP systems (Oracle preferred)

  • Excellent people and Communication skills

  • Above-average Computer proficiency required (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
