Job Description :

Metro Industrial Services is seeking to immediately fill the position of Continuous Improvement Engineer for a company in Hamptonville, NC. This is a Direct Hire. Don't wait to apply!


The primary responsibility of this position is to provide direction and mentoring in Lean/Six Sigma principles to the business unit. This includes, but is not limited to the following:



  • Running Kaizen events

  • Teaching Lean principles

  • Drafting project charters based on data-driven analysis of problem areas and providing technical assistance to Manufacturing, Quality, Design Engineering, and Maintenance to eliminate problems and drive continuous improvement related to the manufacture of product


Other duties are as follows:



  • Acts as a change agent for leading and managing continuous improvement processes while instilling a culture of accountability

  • Leads problem-solving efforts to improve quality and eliminate waste in all areas throughout the Manufacturing areas. Instill a “hands-on” systematic approach to problem solving

  • Works collaboratively to drive continuous improvement and cost savings through application of Lean Manufacturing techniques such as 6S, SMED, Value Stream Analysis, Kanban, and TPM in addition to facilitating Kaizen events

  • Assists in the design of new equipment layouts, setups and timing, while employing Lean and Six Sigma principles

  • Works closely with Focus Factory Manager to identify improvement projects and provides technical assistance as needed

  • Engages Manufacturing team in continuous improvement process to ensure all projects are identified, prioritized, and implemented in a timely and effective manner

  • Develops Tactical Plan with plant’s process engineering, continuous improvement, and maintenance functions to support the Thermal/Acoustical Group’s Strategic Plan as outlined by the Senior Management team

  • Incorporates root cause analysis on various quality/engineering issues and verifies that permanent corrective actions are implemented

  • Conducts studies on Engineering proposals; ensures initiatives are completed to meet safety, quality, and cost goals

  • Performs on-going audits to ensure best practice implementation and to identify opportunities for improvement

  • Promotes safety through active participation and support of company policies and procedures, in addition to initiating corrective action for recognized unsafe conditions or hazards. Reports employee injuries to the Human Resources Department

Required Qualifications :

Successful candidates must meet the following requirements:



  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Degree must be from an accredited institution)

  • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma-based Continuous Improvement Methods

  • Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification

  • Knowledge of Visio


Other Requirements:



  • Background in Lean Methodologies within a Manufacturing environment

  • Minimum of 3 years in a Manufacturing & Continuous environment requiring multi-tasking and the ability to prioritize

  • Ability to function within cross-functional teams

  • Demonstrated Communication skills

  • Must be an effective problem solver

  • Must be a STRONG “trouble-shooter” with a working knowledge of hand tools and Maintenance practices

  • Well-versed in MS Office
